The Turtle Mk. I was a British tank destroyer project that was conceived during World War II, but never reached production. It was designed as an assault vehicle for breaking through enemy fortifications, and was based on the ideas of the School of Tank Technology (Chertsey, U.K.). The project was developed as a student assignment, and only one drawing of the vehicle survives today. The Turtle Mk. I had a very thick armor, ranging from 152 mm to 228 mm, and a powerful 139.7 mm gun, which was a modified naval gun.
It had a crew of seven, and a weight of about 66 tons. It was powered by an 800 hp engine, which gave it a low speed of 20 km/h. The vehicle had no turret, and the gun was mounted in a fixed casemate. The Turtle Mk. I was similar in appearance and role to the Tortoise heavy assault tank, which was another British tank destroyer project that was actually built and tested, but never saw combat.
In World of Tanks, the Turtle Mk. I is a tier 8 premium tank destroyer that can be purchased in the premium shop or obtained from special events. It has a very high damage per minute (DPM) of 2910.6 with its standard AP shells, which can deal 330 damage and penetrate 224 mm of armor. It also has good gun depression and accuracy, making it effective at sniping and hull-down positions. However, the Turtle Mk. I suffers from low mobility, poor camouflage, and limited gun traverse. It also has weak spots in its armor, such as the lower front plate and the cupola, which can be easily penetrated by enemy tanks. Therefore, the Turtle Mk. I requires careful positioning and teamwork to perform well in battles
