The Panzer II J was a German light tank that was designed as a reconnaissance vehicle with heavy armor. It was based on the Panzer II, but had a thicker hull and turret, and a smaller engine. The tank was ordered in October 1939, and the first prototype was built in July 1940. However, the production was delayed and only 22 tanks were made by 1943. The tank was too slow and underpowered for its intended role, and only seven of them saw combat on the Eastern Front with the 12th Panzer Division. The rest were used for training or scrapped.
In World of Tanks, the Panzer II J is a tier 3 premium light tank that has very strong armor for its tier, but very low speed and firepower. It can bounce shots from most enemies, but it struggles to penetrate them with its 2 cm auto-cannon. The tank is very expensive to run, as it requires a lot of premium ammunition to be effective but the Panzer II J is a rare and very unique tank.
