The Valentine II is a Soviet tier 4 premium light tank that was supplied to the U.S.S.R. under the Lend-Lease program during World War II. It is based on the British Valentine infantry tank, which was one of the best in its class and was produced in large numbers. A total of 3,782 Valentine tanks in various modifications were sent to the Soviet Union, with some lost at sea during transport to Murmansk.
The Valentine II was introduced in World of Tanks as a gift tank for the 2012 Valentine’s Day event. It has some unique features and characteristics that make it different from other light tanks in its tier. Some of these are:
- It has preferential matchmaking, meaning it will only see tanks up to tier 4. This gives it an advantage over other light tanks that can face higher-tier opponents.
- It has a low-pressure 45 mm 20KL gun, which has good penetration and rate of fire, but low alpha damage and accuracy. It also has limited ammunition capacity and can only fire AP and HE shells.
- It has very good armor for a light tank, with 65 mm on all sides of the hull and turret. It can bounce shots from most tier 4 tanks and even some tier 5 tanks. However, it also has weak spots, such as the driver’s hatch and the turret ring.
- It has very low mobility and speed, which limits its scouting potential and ability to relocate. It also has poor view range and signal range, which makes it dependent on its teammates for spotting and communication.
- It has a small crew of two, which means it can lose half of its effectiveness if one crew member is knocked out. It also has a high chance of fire if hit in the engine.
The Valentine II is a tank that requires a careful and patient play style. It is not a typical light tank that can scout and flank enemies with its speed and agility. Instead, it is more like a pocket heavy tank that can use its armor and gun to brawl and trade shots with lower-tier tanks. It can also support its allies with its decent penetration and rate of fire, but it should avoid exposing itself to higher-tier tanks or artillery fire. The Valentine II is a tank that can be fun and rewarding if played correctly, but also frustrating and challenging if played poorly
