The ELC EVEN 90 was one of the prototypes developed by BRUNON-VALETTE under the ELC (Engin Léger de Combat, Light Combat Vehicle) program in the late 1950s. The ELC program was initiated by the French Ministry of Defense to create a light aeromobile tank for fire support purposes. The ELC vehicles were designed to be small, fast, and heavily armed, and to be transported by air or by sea. The ELC EVEN 90 featured a turret very similar to that of the ELC EVEN 30, but replaced both 30mm guns and the right-side machine gun with a single low-pressure 90mm D919 gun using 700m/sec HEAT rounds type G, on the right side of the turret.
The vehicle had a crew of two, a commander who also acted as a radio operator and loader, and a driver who also acted as a gunner. The vehicle weighed about 9 tons and had a top speed of 70 km/h. A total of 10 pilot vehicles with different types of armament were produced under the ELC program. They underwent trials, but the vehicle never entered mass production. The main reason was that the ELC vehicles were too vulnerable to enemy fire, especially from anti-tank weapons and artillery. The ELC program was eventually abandoned in favor of the AMX-13 light tank, which had better protection and firepower.
In World of Tanks, the ELC EVEN 90 is a French tier 8 premium light tank. It has some of the highest camouflage values in the game, thanks to its very small size and low profile. It also has great mobility and top speed, which allow it to scout effectively and relocate quickly. However, it has very low survivability and damage potential, as its armor is almost nonexistent and its gun has low penetration, accuracy, and rate of fire. The ELC EVEN 90 is best played as a passive scout, using its stealth to spot enemies from a safe distance, or as a support vehicle, using its speed to flank or harass enemies when they are distracted.
